Major & Minor - Brown-Bags - Lectures - New Faculty - In the News - Listserv

News

The Religion & Society Program is completing its first year in existence. I am pleased to report that the program has been greeted with enthusiasm by Syracuse University students and faculty. That fact is attested by the students who have declared a major, the faculty who have joined the program and added their courses to its lists, and the attendance at the program’s brown-bag lunch seminars and special events.

Now Prof. Gustav Niebuhr, of Arts & Sciences (Religion) and the Newhouse School (Newspaper Journalism), has been appointed Director of the Religion & Society program and brings a new vision for developing it. In addition to continuing to expand the program through new majors and minors, new faculty and new courses, we are also planning to raise the research profile of the program through symposia and research groups, in cooperation with other campus efforts such as History’s workshop on religion and society and a working group within the SU SPIRE on Transnational Citizenship to address “Religion, Religious Organizations and Transnational Values.”

Major & Minor now available The Religion & Society major and minor are available to all SU students. See Prof. Gustav Niebuhr to sign up!
